R. Mike Micklich attended Cal State University, Northridge, focusing his studies on 3-dimensional art. Mike’s lifelong passion for the beauty of cars has manifested itself into the building of semi-custom muscle cars, and of late, photography. Mike takes the beautiful and sees it through a different set of eyes. Through his perspective, there are many new worlds to be found in a hood, a fender, or a right rear wheel. While attending numerous car shows, (where he won two “Best of Show” trophies with his ’72 Olds Cutlass) Mike takes hundreds of photographs of other cars in attendance, searching for interesting moments… colorful pieces of the fuel-injected dreams he loves. Mike’s passion for all things automotive is clearly visible in the richness of color, the wonderful forms and the balance displayed in the expressive, vibrant photographs presented on this website and throughout his gallery works. Additionally, Mike has been published in several art and automobile magazines for his exceptional talent in blending artwork and automobile vision. Mike’s artwork is framed in brushed stainless steel, double-matted, and fronted with plexiglass, much like the A class, Factory Experimental cars he grew up admiring. These photos you see are digital, yet unenhanced; unaltered in any way. Taken in natural, available light and presented in these breathtaking arrays, Mike’s work can’t be glanced at and passed by. His presentations demand a closer look, and usually a smile. Along with these works that are so pleasing, Mike also does custom portraits of the favorite family automobile. His unique style lends itself to some stunning possibilities.
Mike is also Founder and CEO of C.A.T. 123, a non-profit organization located in South Orange County designed and dedicated to give a “second chance” to 18-35 year old clean and sober persons whereby they can earn a Certified Automobile Technical certificate as easy as 1 2 3 making themselves employable in the labor market again. |
